Makeup and hair styles to look older?

I'm 20 years old but people are under the impression that I am younger. Just yesterday a 16 year old asked me "What grade are you in?" So... I'd like to try a different hair and makeup style to look older. Not too old, just my age. Right now I have long mid back length hair with some layesr and sideswept bangs. I don't wear a lot of makeup, just brown eyeliner, mascara, blush and lipgloss.

Well it all depends on the structure of your face. Even though you want to look older you still want something that will compliment your best features and make those negative features not so obvious. The style you are wearing now is what a lot of teenagers are wearing these days. So I would suggest cutting your hair maybe in a bob with some layers for more versatility. Also have you ever considered coloring your hair? Some colors can give you the appearance of a more mature adult. (Go to a stylist to help see what would suit you best. Also if you never had color in your hair have the stylist do an allergic test). Trust me, I have been licensed for 5 years, I have seen make "do it at home" coloring, and you cant imagine what I have seen!

As far as makeup is concerned it sounds like you look is very "youthful". Experiment with eyeshadow. You will be surprised how much of a difference it makes. Try Bare Essentials makeup. Have fun with it and try different methods like the smoke eye effect, etc. Best advice you can get makeup tips would be Cosmo, Marie Claire, Instyle, or Vogue. Whatever you do, don't put too much on. i know i know peole tell me i look 12 or 14 so i makep heavy and wear heels i make sure my bust can be seen a lot i am glad i have a lot

if you dont have any bust then stuff or get the pad bras

and wear like those suits and skirts like to the knee and not short

I used to get that up until last week. Then I cut over a foot off my hair for charity and now I'm getting guys my age and older hitting on me. My hair is now layered a bit past my shoulders with side swept bangs. The last straw for me was when my boyfriends brother asked if he ws still going out with that 12 year old because my hair was so long it was little girl long.

Also look at how you dress and your overall size, I'm small so I have to make suer I buy clothes that fit me, and my age (19) not shop in the preteen department. College aged girls do dress differently than 16 year olds trying to look older.

try a shorter cut and layers.. you can also maybe lighten your hair or try darkening it, depending on what shade you have now... as for make up, i dont wear much myself, but people tend to think im much older. (im 16) but i take that as a compliment, but can see how its annoying in your situation... try something more dramatic on the eyes. darker eye shadows and mascara can make a world of difference. :) hope this helps!

Cutting your hair to match your bangs will definitely help.Something a little shorter, and choppy, which is very in right now. You should also try dying it. Something dramatic. I also think the less make up the better. Make up sometimes makes you look like your trying to look older. You should also consider what you're wearing. The right clothing may also make a difference.
