Hair styles?!?help!?

ok..unlike avatar i have about straight hair a little past my shoudler and sometimes i curl it .... and i have side bangs and like two layers..how can i do my hair .i usually wear a messy bun or pony tail because i dont know any cute ways of putting it .. ..up dos are good too ..anything and everything is appreciated ...thanks in advance oh and im a teenager ....if that helps

small tight curls . you will need 0.5 in curling iron , hairspray. hairspray a strand at a time apply iron curling tightly for few seconds and unravel spray lock do this to all hair you can choose to wear up or down either way you decide you will look stunning. Also, crimping hair in same fashion is not time consuming results are worth it.

I have wanted to get my hair cut for a while now but have always been a little scared because I just don't know what style would work best for me. I have a really round face, big cheeks, kinda big nose and I really want to down play these features. I had thought maybe the new bob, longer in front and a bit shorter in back but I'm worried this may draw attention to my chin/round face. Please help!

Do NOT use hair to hide " what YOU think" are flaws...it is a very common misconception...........PROMISE.

One of the very worst hair styles to have for someone with some of the issues you speak of ....is.super long hair.

Why?

because "bulk" adds to "bulk"........

it just does.

The cut you are speaking of will change your life....it might give you a whole new lease on your self image....I think its a great choice and from what I can see....it looks as though it would look great on you............

I have a round face like you and the main thing to be careful of, I've found, is to watch out for having your hair RIGHT at your chin line. It accentuates the features you want to downplay. If you do get a graduated bob (where it's stacked in the back, but longer in the front), make sure to get it chopped longer than your chin length. Otherwise, layers at the crown will also help downplay the features you said you'd want to avoid.

Don't be afraid to ask your stylist for suggestions - they are professionals, and can give good advice on what will flatter your face if you explain what you want! Good luck!

I would say start with a shoulder length cut or just below your shoulders. If you don't like then then you can cut it to a bob. You can always go shorter but you can't go back once it's cut. I used to have very long hair and it's nice to get it cut short. Feels soo much lighter!

Hate to say it, but if you really want to cut it, cut it. Just don't go too short. It will feel wierd after having long hair for such a long time. My parents made me keep my hair long (down past my butt!) and I finally just went and cut it one day just below the shoulders. Most they can do is ground you. My parents got over it (12 yrs ago...)

I have thick long blonde hair with a perm that has grown out past my ears.

As you know your afro hair type will depend on your ethnic background and therefore, the many different ways you can care for it.

It could range from being a very dark colour with a strong spiral curl to something much lighter with wavy and even loose curls- especially if you also have European or Asian origins.

How often your hair should be washed will depend on your hair type, and the level of oil it contains, plus the types of creams or oils used in styling. The most important point to remember with afro hair is to keep the moisture locked in, especially as the hair can be quite porous if dry or chemically treated.

A simple routine when caring for your 'fro is to shampoo and condition using products specially formulated for your hair type. Then you can partially towel dry hair, comb through and let it dry naturally.

Finish off by single plaiting or cornrowing your hair. For a fuller 'fro, blow drying will give you BIG hair.

There are many moisturising and conditioning treatments available to protect your hair and prevent it from becoming dry and brittle. When styling permed hair use curl activators or wave activators. These are rich moisture creams containing light oils which you can spray on your scalp and work through your hair before combing and styling.

If you straighten your hair try styling lotions which help provide a layer of moisture to protect your hair against heat damage and breaking.

Using the right combs and brushes when styling is vital for your hair's health. An afro comb/wide tooth comb is all you need to rid yourself of tangles.

Styles:

Style 1

Smooth your hair back with some leave-in conditioner and secure your hair in a ponytail using a covered band. Twist the ponytail into place fanning out the ends of the hair and secure in place using a large hair clip.

Style 2

Your hair needs as much protection from the sun as your skin. So to avoid it becoming a sun-baked frizz, wear a bandana to save your scalp from the sun rays.

Style 3

Brush some UV sun screen protection spray through your hair. Part your hair in the centre and secure into two ponytails, one behind each ear. Plait each ponytail, securing with a cute hair band or clip.

Curly Coils Style:

This style is great if you've got thick wavy or curly hair that needs taming.

Style::

Style hair as normal, adding a little serum to stop frizz.

If it's still a bit frizzy, tong individual curls to add definition.

Twist::

Start at the front taking a triangular section and twist the hair loosely to form a coil.

Secure::

Grip into place then repeat all over the head making coils and pinning them in as you go along.

Spritz::

Finish with a fixing spray and you're ready to go.

Tip:

Accessorize your look by adding pretty pins or grips to dress up your hair.

New hair suggestions?

I need/want to know what hair styles i can wear because its the summer and i want a change. I also want to know if rubber bands or schrunchis are harmful to my hair because i always wore it in a pony tail. i also tried wearing it down naturally. (it doesn't work) And i can't get perms or coloring so my options are sort of limited.

(I my hair grew down to my elbows and i remember i got a perm from this lady, in a few months my hair went from my elbows to my shoulders. the lady didn't even know how to do her own hair and she didn't take care of mine. I couldn't do anything about it. that's why i can't get perms.) its been 5 years and my hair is still trying to recover. but that's a different story

If you have very curly hair, long is usually the best way as I know a lot of curly-haired girls who have completely regretted cutting their hair short. Cutting some layers into it will help relieve a lot of the bulk from the perm, however.

Also, if you're not opposed to blowing out/straightening your hair, a bob is always a great, stylish cut. I think that singer Rihanna has a very cute one that works on square set faces.

Well, depending on HOW short...here are a few ideas: If it's around shoulder length- get all over razored layer throughout and it'll give you more styling power-ringlets that lay nicely and have bounce, too. Put shine serum (with a good scent) throughout for killer shiny curls that waft through the air and make the guys wanna run their fingers through your beautiful curls!!! OR...

If you have short short hair, go for choppy distinguished layer all over for an up to date (crazy cute) curly pixie. It's easy to straighten when it's that short, too, if you wanna go for a straight flirty pixie cut. To straighten, use a smoothing shampoo and conditioner liberally. Then use Johnson and Johnson Detangling spray (for curly hair that's also frizzy) throughout. Dry with a metal bedded flat brush, then use a straightening iron from root to tip of hair. Rub a pomade throughout for texture and depth. Have fun!!

Well if you want something quick than you could do a messy bun.They are really cute and easy.Or you could get some curl enhancer(Catwalk is great)and then defuse it.It only takes about 10 minutes and it is really cute.Or if you want to go completely different you could straighten it with a flat-iron.

I wanted a change aswell a couple of years ago so i cut my beautiful thick brown (with red undertones) hair up to the bottom of my ears. BIG mistake! i liked it for about a month and then gradually i came to hate it and i went to the health store to buy kelp pills cuz i hear they help hair grow and it has taken two years for my hair to be 3 inches below my shoulders so i am STILL waiting. Keep that tragic story in mind.

The moral is to gradually make your hair shorter because you don't know what you've got till it's gone.

my hair is a little longer then mid back..i'm going to get my hair cut to get the bad ends off but would also like a different style..my hair is naturally curly..sometimes i leave it curly..other times i'll straighten, and other times i'll curl it once it's been straightened for more loose fluffy curls.

OK, well first of all bring up that length.... and get it up on your neck...... ok? Then go thru and "Thin It"....... then layer it .... leaving your length in the front and crown...thereby creating the illusion of fullness around the face and crown..... and give the hair more body more volume in the top.....by adding height you are taking away from the round face....... and then just be the beautiful person that you already are......and go out there and enjoy that new you!!!!! :) :)

a bit of advice wud be that if you have a long face like hilary...try bangs (fringe)..cos they shorten the face and look really cute it you get them done right..i think the best thing 2 do wud be 2 go and get a consultaion 4rm ur hairdresser...

if you have a lot of thick hair, dont cut it super short, i made the mistake and it will get pouffy, you dont want that, i say stay with long layers, more versitile than you think!

Id part the bangs with 3/4 swept off to one side, and the other 1/4 to the other side of your face.

You can also clip the bangs back; I prefer it clipped back and slightly off to the side instead straight back.

Headbands also work well for dressing up your hair while hiding bangs.

Bangs are a pain to grow out (mine are almost there!) but with some playing around you can make them a little more presentable.

If you're not interested in growing it out you can try curling it, messy bun, curly ponytail, pigtails, normal bun, or any random hairstyles until you find the one you like best. But try to not overuse one particular hairstyle.

Take a piece, not big but not tiny either , of hair from the middle-back of your hair and pin it about where u want your updo to be place. Use a bobby pin that matches your hair color. From there just keep pulling chunks of hair up to approximately that spot. It will be a big messy updo it's the easiest way I wear my hair- once you get the hang of it it only takes a couple minutes and lookes much better than a ponytail- email me for pics and more detailed isntructions (little_monkey74@yahoo.com)

I have a short, slightly layered cut. its right below my chin, and I LOVE IT!! so does everyone else..LOL dont be afraid to try something new, and ask around for a good hairstylist. your hair can always grow back. :)
